Though looking very old and rusty,
I believe the Northern Ave bridge is actually quite new!
It is a swing-span. I believe in the middle, very similarly to the North Washington bridge.
Except, much as that one, which has maybe 4 lanes, or at the moment 1 on each side/direction, and a middle lane that is inactive, the Northern Ave is completely out of service.

IT has been bid and may undergo some rehabilitation in the years to come.
