So what is the substructure?

The substructures are the parts that hold the superstructure up,
From the middle piers to the side piers, which are commonly known as abutments,
and have different parts that must be inspected, which are often retaining walls with different names due to overall positioning and need for discernment of a bridge's different dimensions.
